Process Engineer

About the role

The Process Engineer will support plant production and quality objectives by implementing systems, tools, and procedures that improve efficiency, product quality, and cost performance. The role involves leading continuous optimization initiatives and collaborating with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze equipment and system performance (energy, refractory consumption, etc.) and propose budget‑aligned solutions.
• Implement continuous improvement tools, promote Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR), and evaluate their process impact.
• Participate in design of new systems, modifications, and conduct feasibility studies.
• Commission new installations, de‑bottleneck processes, and ensure safety, environmental and OH&S compliance.
• Develop SOPs, supervise operators, and train staff on process knowledge.
• Monitor and optimise Expert Optimizer (if installed) and carry out benchmarking studies.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in process engineering (chemical, mechanical or electrical background).
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Ability to perform basic process measurements (gas flow, temperature, gas analysis) and conduct plant audits.

Required skills

• Statistical process control methods and experimental design.
• Project management techniques.
• Traditional process control tools (raw feed calculation, QMC, control‑loop tuning, correctogram).
• Understanding of expert system strategies.
• Knowledge of AFR evaluation and mitigation.
