Payroll Manager

About the role

A prominent construction organisation is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join its Human Resources & Administration team in Lagos. The role ensures accurate and timely calculation and processing of employee entitlements, supervises payroll officers, works with external partners and keeps the organisation compliant with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Register and maintain documentation for newly employed workers.
• Calculate and prepare employee entitlements accurately and promptly, and handle calculations for employees leaving.
• Supervise payroll officers, refine standard operating procedures and manage employee ID card issuance.
• Collaborate with Pension Fund Administrators on pension matters and administer sick leave days.
• Prepare monthly provisions for employee benefits such as gratuity and leave allowances.
• Generate monthly salary reports and manage statutory remittances (PAYE, pension, insurance reports, NSITF, union dues, co-operative contributions).
• Liaise with state internal revenue services and auditors for PAYE remittance and return filing.
• Act as a resource for employee questions on pensions and TCF, and carry out other duties directed by the Head of HR & Administration.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar role.
• Relevant certifications are an advantage but not mandatory.
• Exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Payroll preparation using ERP software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (Sage and Oracle experience considered).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
