Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager ensures that production, equipment availability, material readiness, inventory control, procurement and logistics, cost management, quality and safe working practices work together to support production targets. As the company moves from operational setup to full-scale manufacturing, the role will help establish effective operational systems, processes, controls and performance standards, and turn operational plans into execution while spotting and addressing bottlenecks, resource constraints and risks. The position reports to the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Production Manager, Engineering/Maintenance Manager, Warehouse Manager and Procurement & Logistics Manager, ensuring cross-functional coordination and accountability.
• Ensure operational plans are effectively executed.
• Proactively identify and address emerging bottlenecks, resource constraints and operational risks.
• Manage production, equipment availability, inventory, procurement and logistics, and oversee cost control and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years' relevant experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, production, supply chain or a related environment, with at least 5 years in a management or senior supervisory role.
• Proven experience managing or coordinating multiple operational functions, preferably including Production, Engineering/Maintenance, Warehouse and Procurement/Logistics.
• Experience in manufacturing operations planning, KPI management, resource optimisation, cost control and continuous improvement.
• Nigerian candidates preferred: professional membership or certification from a recognised operations, engineering, supply chain or management body, and ISPON/HSE or equivalent safety qualification.
• International candidates preferred: APICS/ASCM, CIPS, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, NEBOSH/IOSH or similar certifications.
