Operations & Maintenance Technician - Mechanical

About the role

Wärtsilä, a global technology company active in the marine and energy markets, is looking for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician covering mechanical tasks. The role is shift-based and covers all plant and engine-related maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Handle all pant and plant-related O&M activities within the assigned shift, including planned and unplanned maintenance.
• Troubleshoot 4-stroke engines mechanically and take part in mechanical maintenance jobs during the shift.
• Monitor engine and auxiliary parameters during operation and maintain the shift logbook.
• Start and synchronize local and remote engines, and propose immediate solutions to protect equipment when faults occur.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance checks, including vibration and temperature inspections on rotating equipment, and record all readings.
• Ensure equipment, materials and tools are available, implement lockout/tag-out, and comply with technical bulletins and updated procedures.
• Report resources used, job scope changes, rework and deferred maintenance, and liaise with other departments on safety and permitting matters.
• Handle other plant-related O&M tasks assigned by the site manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (BSc).
• Ability to troubleshoot 4-stroke engines and good knowledge of mechanical measuring equipment.
• Good knowledge of engine auxiliary systems and diesel engines, and understanding of fuels, fluids and air supply.
• Quality, safety and environmental awareness.
• Capability to trend and analyse operational parameters.

Required skills

• Foundational understanding of Maximo and associated reporting tools.
• Diesel engine ABC knowledge.
• Lockout/tag-out system implementation.
