Medical Laboratory Inventory Technician

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Inventory Technician supports the efficient management of reagents, consumables, and supplies required for safe laboratory operations. The role ensures accurate documentation, storage, tracking, and timely replenishment of inventory to maintain uninterrupted diagnostic services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of laboratory reagents, consumables, PPE, controls, calibrators and related items.
• Receive, inspect, label, store and issue supplies in accordance with approved procedures and temperature requirements.
• Monitor stock levels, usage patterns, expiry dates, lot numbers and trigger replenishment to avoid stock‑outs.
• Prepare and track purchase requisitions, goods received notes and invoices; liaise with procurement, finance and vendors.
• Ensure cold‑chain and hazardous‑material storage compliance, perform daily temperature checks and stock rotation.
• Support internal and external audits, cycle counts, variance investigations and documentation for accreditation.

Required profile

• Relevant training or certification in inventory management, laboratory quality or healthcare supply chain (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years experience in laboratory inventory, medical stores or diagnostic supply support.
• Good knowledge of laboratory consumables, expiry tracking, cold‑chain requirements and biosafety procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary hospital laboratory environment.
