Letter of Credit (LC) Specialist

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is hiring a Letter of Credit (LC) Specialist at its Head Office in Lagos. The specialist manages international trade finance to ensure secure payments and mitigate supply chain risks, working with banks, logistics and procurement to draft, negotiate and execute LCs for heavy raw material imports, equipment purchases and spare parts.

Key responsibilities

• Review shipping documents (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Certificates of Origin, packing lists) to ensure full compliance with LC terms, and resolve discrepancies with freight forwarders and suppliers
• Ensure trade transactions comply with international trade regulations and ICC rules such as UCP 600
• Draft, issue and amend LCs with corporate banking partners, and act as the main contact for advising and negotiating LC payments with issuing and advising banks
• Maintain a complete file of LC applications, amendments and correspondence for corporate audits
• Work with financial institutions on payment guarantees and track bank fees, confirmation charges and interest rates to control costs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, International Business or Economics
• 6 to 9 years of experience in trade operations, corporate treasury or international operations within a reputable bank
• Deep knowledge of international trade law and ICC rules (UCP 600, ISP98, CBN Trad Portal)
• Certifications such as CDCS or CITF are highly preferred

Required skills

• Proficiency in financial tracking software (Trade360, Loan IQ, AFS) and SWIFT messaging
• Attention to detail, strong communication across time zones, and analytical problem solving
