Treasury Accountant

About the role

Terralix Nigeria Limited is hiring a Treasury Accountant in Marina, Lagos. The role covers daily cash management, payment processing, bank reconciliations, statutory compliance and reporting, with support for the Finance Manager and internal and external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the daily cash position and process all approved payments, verifying each against approved terms, PO value and cumulative advances, and ensuring three-way matching (PO, GRN, invoice) before release.
• Maintain relationships with banks and perform daily bank reconciliations across all accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving timing differences.
• Reconcile supplier statements to Accounts Payable monthly and customer accounts to the Accounts Receivable ledger, and prepare weekly and monthly cash flow reports for the Finance Manager.
• Compute and process statutory remittances on time, and prepare and submit tax returns and statutory reports to LIRS, FIRS, Pencom and other regulators.
• Support annual tax audits and regulatory examinations, and post treasury transactions in Odoo ERP on the day they occur.
• Prepare journal entries for bank charges and interest income, support monthly management accounts, and keep payment vouchers, bank statements and receipts organised for audit readiness.
• Ensure adherence to the pre-payment verification process, support internal and external audits, and flag irregularities or control weaknesses to the Finance Manager and IC&A function.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance or a related discipline.
• ICAN, ACCA or equivalent in progress (minimum PE 1 completed) or fully qualified.
• 2-5 years of hands-on accounting experience with treasury, payments processing or cashbook management.
• Working knowledge of Nigerian tax legislation, PAYE, WHT, VAT and pension administration.
• Preferred: experience in manufacturing, trading, commodities or financial services, and in a group or shared services structure.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting ERPs; Odoo preferred, Sage, QuickBooks or similar accepted.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, bank reconciliation templates, pivot tables, VLOOKUP and basic financial analysis.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
