Lead Cardiologist

About the role

The Lead Cardiologist will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for AMCE's cardiology service, driving high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. The role combines direct patient management with service development, multidisciplinary collaboration, governance and research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for complex cardiovascular patients across outpatient, inpatient, emergency and multidisciplinary settings.
• Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans, clinical pathways and service improvement initiatives to enhance access, patient flow and outcomes.
• Oversee clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and compliance with guidelines, ensuring safety and accreditation readiness.
• Provide mentorship, teaching and supervision to consultants, fellows, residents and allied health professionals, and promote research and innovation.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) and specialist registration in Cardiology.
• Minimum 10 years of consultant‑level cardiology experience, with proven leadership of a tertiary or academic cardiac service.
• Experience in both non‑invasive and invasive cardiology, cardiac imaging, EMR systems and quality improvement programmes.
