Internal Audit and Control Officer

About the role

The Internal Audit and Control Officer will evaluate and improve internal control systems, risk management processes, and governance structures across all business lines, especially in water, hygiene, and sanitary product manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk‑based internal audit plans covering all departments and manufacturing operations.
• Conduct periodic audits of production processes, financial records, stock reports, procurement procedures, and inventory controls.
• Monitor compliance with internal policies, SOPs, ISO standards, health and safety regulations, and statutory requirements such as Tax, Labor laws, NAFDAC, and SON.
• Identify operational, financial, and compliance risks, assess their impact, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Prepare detailed audit reports, present findings to senior management, and follow up on implementation of recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in internal audit, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, labor laws, and regulatory requirements for food and hygiene product production.
• Professional certifications such as ACA or CIA are highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies and control frameworks (COSO, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 45001).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, Sage, Oracle) and audit software.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
