Assistant Accountant – Inventory Control

About the role

The Assistant Accountant (Inventory Control) will ensure accurate inventory records across all plants, warehouses and depots, supporting business decisions with reliable reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and reconcile physical inventory against Microsoft Dynamics 365 records.
• Track inventory receipts, issues, transfers, consumption and adjustments.
• Prepare and monitor transfer order schedules to achieve timely month‑end inventory positions.
• Monitor raw material consumption, maize stock levels and inventory coverage, investigating significant variances.
• Coordinate monthly inventory closing activities, stock counts and valuation processes.
• Identify and investigate inventory losses, slow‑moving and obsolete stock items.
• Ensure compliance with inventory management procedures, internal controls and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance, Production, Warehouse, Procurement and Supply Chain teams to improve accuracy and reduce costs.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN) is a plus.
• Minimum 3‑4 years of experience in inventory accounting or stock control, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
