IFRS S1/S2 Compliance and ESG Specialist

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) is looking for an IFRS S1/S2 Compliance and ESG Specialist to lead the implementation, coordination and continuous improvement of sustainability-related financial disclosures across its cement, oil refining, fertilizer, sugar and salt Business Units. The role manages DIL's transition to full IFRS S1/S2 compliance in line with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) adoption roadmap, integrating sustainability information into corporate reporting, financial planning, risk management, investor and lender communications and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group-wide implementation of IFRS S1 and S2 reporting and maintain disclosure protocols aligned with ISSB Standards
• Run readiness assessments, gap analyses and the group's materiality assessment under IFRS S2
• Track the transition timeline against the FRCN roadmap and escalate schedule risk to the Group CFO
• Monitor ISSB, IFRS Foundation, SEC Nigeria, NGX and FRCN developments, including export market obligations such as EU CSRD/CBAM
• Coordinate ESG, sustainability, integrated and climate disclosures, develop templates, calendars and evidence requirements, and review disclosures for completeness and auditability
• Own the group's Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG inventory under the GHG Protocol, supporting climate scenario analysis and transition planning
• Set up ESG data governance, reporting controls and the ESG/carbon data management system, including data quality and reconciliation
• Coordinate internal validation, internal audit reviews and external assurance, and support ESG content in annual reports, financing documents and Board papers
• Deliver IFRS S1/S2 training and represent DIL in regulator and standard-setter working groups

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related field; Master's degree advantageous
• Minimum 7 to 10 years' experience in finance, ESG reporting, climate reporting, assurance, corporate finance or integrated reporting
• At least 3 to 5 years' hands-on experience with IFRS S1/S2, TCFD, GRI, SASB, CDP or equivalent frameworks
• ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA or equivalent desirable; IFRS S1/S2, GRI, SASB/ISSB, ESG Investing or Climate Risk certification advantageous
• Experience with auditors, investors, regulators, lenders and senior management; heavy industry, cement or oil and gas background advantageous
