Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Human Resources Officer oversees the organization's human capital, drives employee growth and keeps HR documentation accurate. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, performance oversight, employee relations, policy governance, compensation coordination, learning and development, time and attendance, reporting, wellness and safety, and general administration. It is a full-time position based in Lagos.

Key responsibilities

• Talent acquisition: assess staffing gaps, write job specifications, advertise vacancies, screen applications, schedule interviews and help select candidates.
• Onboarding: guide new hires through orientation and check that all employment paperwork is completed on time.
• Data administration: keep confidential personnel files accurate, including contracts, attendance logs, leave records and performance evaluations.
• Performance oversight: run appraisal cycles, track progress against objectives and support professional advancement.
• Workplace relations: resolve disputes, mediate conflicts and build a positive culture.
• Policy governance: formulate, share and enforce HR protocols aligned with internal procedures and labour legislation.
• Compensation coordination: work with Finance on payroll data, benefits, leave calculations and other employee financial matters.
• Learning and development: identify skill gaps and arrange training, workshops and career progression programmes.
• Time and attendance: track punctuality, process leave applications and enforce timekeeping rules.
• Strategic reporting: produce analytics on hiring metrics, turnover, attendance trends, training results and workforce efficiency.
• Wellness and safety: promote programmes that improve employee welfare and workplace security.
• General administration: support workforce planning, internal communications and other administrative duties.
