Hotel Accountant

About the role

A hotel in Berger Ojodu, Lagos, is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Hotel Accountant to oversee its financial operations. The accountant keeps accurate financial records, monitors daily revenue, controls operational costs and ensures compliance with financial regulations, while tracking room revenue, food and beverage sales and daily transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of daily transactions, income, expenses and receipts, and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for management
• Reconcile daily room, restaurant, bar and other centre revenue against POS systems, cash collections and bank transfers; reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies
• Monitor corporate and guest accounts and track vendor payments, ensuring invoices are approved before payment
• Work with purchasing and store departments on inventory consumption, verify purchase invoices against requisitions and deliveries, and help enforce cost control
• Prepare and verify staff payroll, and manage petty cash with strict controls
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations such as VAT and PAYE, and assist with internal and external audits

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 1 to 3 years of proven accounting experience; hospitality experience is a strong advantage
• Must live within or near the Berger Ojodu / Ikeja area

Required skills

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or hotel PMS, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity and confidentiality
