Fleet Officer

About the role

MAX is a vehicle subscription and financial services platform for commercial drivers and transport operators in Africa, operating in Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon. The Fleet Officer is responsible for the setup, maintenance, refurbishment, quality assurance and security of the fleet within their jurisdiction, making sure all MAX assets receive routine maintenance and that refurbishment is completed within approved time and cost limits while keeping quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Test vehicles before maintenance to determine the level of repair needed, and follow up repairs to ensure spare parts are used judiciously
• Work with the vehicle maintenance manager to improve checklists and maintenance routines
• Visit authorized service workshops periodically to confirm maintenance follows MAX routines and standards, and inspect/test vehicles after maintenance
• Assess vehicles for refurbishment with a pre-assessment checklist, inspect spare parts, and test them after refurbishment with a post-assessment checklist
• Guide technicians on maintenance best practices
• Ensure job cards are filled out for every vehicle brought into the facility, and conduct frequent technician training

Required profile

• Minimum of OND in any engineering discipline; Mechanical Engineering is preferred
• 2 years of experience as a vehicle technician or 2 years in fleet management
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of inventory control principles and fleet management
• Critical thinking, accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality and thoroughness
