Controller: Transport Operations X4

About the role

The Fleet Controller oversees the daily operations of a vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient and timely haulage services for clients, including cold chain logistics and clients such as Nigerian Breweries. The role covers fleet management, route planning, fuel monitoring, safety and maintenance, and liaison with clients and field officers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan routes and oversee fleet coordination; maintain records in EDD, Instanta and I-Manager
• Monitor fuel usage to benchmark productivity, fleet utilisation and operating costs
• Ensure loading orders are met, trips are recorded in i-manager and terminated on completion, and that tonnage loaded does not exceed truck capacity
• Check that trucks follow speed limits, service mileage stays within approved limits and that pre- and post-trip briefings are given to delivery officers
• Conduct toolbox meetings, inspect trucks, trailers, accessories, documents and safety kits, and ensure incidents, accidents and insurance claims are documented promptly
• Use the tracking platform to monitor daily truck positions and activities, and issue fuel on i-manager according to the approved chart
• Collect PODs on time, manage fleet files and escalate major issues to the Senior Fleet Controller
• Ensure delivery officers are equipped with PPE, that risk assessments are carried out and reviewed, and liaise with the HSE department on health, safety and security matters

Required profile

• BSc or HND in a science or social science, not below second-class lower/lower credit
• Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution (CLTD), Transportation & Logistics (CILT) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
• Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience, including supply chain experience in a similar field
