Digital Communications Officer

About the role

The Digital Communications Officer will design and execute integrated digital and social media strategies for Oando PLC and its subsidiaries, enhancing brand awareness, engagement and reputation across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise and run digital campaigns using a monthly content calendar aligned with business priorities.
• Identify market opportunities and develop rapid, creative digital activations and competitions.
• Manage online communities, respond to comments in real time and monitor sentiment.
• Create culture‑focused content (employee stories, behind‑the‑scenes, values‑driven storytelling) and maintain a recurring series.
• Develop subsidiary‑specific digital content that translates technical initiatives into accessible storytelling.
• Oversee third‑party vendors from briefing to delivery, evaluate performance and ensure budget compliance.
• Escalate emerging digital issues, support crisis communications and guide junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Business Administration or Humanities.
• 5–6 years of marketing communications experience, including PR, social media or events.
• Proven ability to lead teams or supervise junior staff.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Required skills

• Planning, executing and analysing digital/social media campaigns.
• Community management on Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube and other platforms.
• Use of content management systems.
• Analytics tools: Supermetrics, Looker, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and native platform insights.
• Vendor management for digital and advertising agencies.
