Desktop Administrator / ICT Officer

About the role

Desicon Engineering Limited, an EPC company serving the Nigerian energy sector, is hiring a full-time, on-site Desktop Administrator/ICT Officer in Bonny. The role ensures the reliable operation of desktop systems and related ICT infrastructure, providing day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain desktop computers, operating systems and essential software used across the organisation.
• Provide day-to-day technical support, diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, and carry out routine troubleshooting.
• Monitor system performance and support user access and permissions.
• Maintain asset inventories.
• Collaborate with other IT team members to implement security and backup standards aligned with the company's needs.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with desktop computers, peripherals and operating systems in a corporate setting.
• Ability to document procedures, keep accurate records and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in an on-site environment.

Required skills

• Desktop administration: configuration, deployment and maintenance of desktop environments.
• Technical support: user assistance, incident resolution and service request handling.
• Troubleshooting of hardware, software and network connectivity issues.
• System administration: user management, security updates, backups and basic network services.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or Microsoft certifications are an advantage.
