Cook - Serviced Apartment

About the role

D21 Serviced Apartment Ltd is looking for a cook for its property in Abuja's Marina area. The cook prepares meals for guests according to their orders, preferences and approved menus, including a variety of local Nigerian dishes. The position is listed as part-time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to guests' orders, preferences and approved menus, ensuring they are tasty, fresh and attractively presented.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety, and properly store food items while monitoring freshness and expiry dates.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and notify management when ingredients need replenishing, and maintain records of food supplies and inventory where required.
• Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance needs.
• Follow food preparation schedules so meals are served on time, and take note of guests' dietary requirements and special requests.
• Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum of SSCE; a qualification or training in Catering, Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts is an advantage.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, serviced apartment or catering business is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, with honesty, reliability, punctuality and a good work attitude.

Required skills

• Good cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation, including a variety of Nigerian meals.
• Knowledge of food handling, kitchen hygiene and food safety.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and handle multiple meal orders under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
