Commercial Director

About the role

The Commercial Director will lead the commercial strategy and operations for a large construction and engineering group. Based in Lekki, this full‑time, on‑site position oversees business planning, bidding, contracts and revenue performance across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business plans to drive growth and profitability.
• Oversee the preparation and management of bids, tenders and contract negotiations.
• Monitor project revenue, margins and financial performance, ensuring targets are met.
• Lead commercial management activities, reviewing client and supplier agreements for compliance.
• Collaborate with project, finance and operations teams to assess risks, optimise pricing and support long‑term business development.
• Mentor and manage commercial and sales teams, fostering high performance.
• Track market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
• Prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills for evaluating profitability, risk and market trends.
• Proficiency in business planning, budgeting, forecasting and contract oversight.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional commercial or sales teams.
• Sales background in construction, engineering or related sectors with a record of revenue growth.
• Extensive commercial leadership experience in construction, infrastructure or real estate development.
• Solid understanding of contract law, tendering processes and project financing.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
