Chief Operating Officer – Cocoa Processing Plant

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the operations of our cocoa processing plant in Ondo. The COO will drive strategic and operational excellence to meet production, financial and quality targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
• Lead the Plant Manager and oversee end‑to‑end cocoa processing activities including sourcing, roasting, grinding, pressing, powder production, packaging, storage and distribution.
• Monitor operational KPIs such as production yield, capacity utilization, cost efficiency, waste reduction and product quality.
• Manage budgeting, cost control and financial performance to enhance profitability.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, environmental and occupational safety standards (HACCP, ISO/FSSC, export regulations).
• Oversee procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics and export coordination, building strong stakeholder relationships.
• Provide leadership, performance management and talent development for plant management teams.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience (minimum 10 years) in manufacturing or food processing operations.
• Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, productivity and cost optimisation.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and commercial oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
