Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will work on-site in Lagos, driving new business opportunities for Plug Microfinance Bank Limited. You will identify prospects, build relationships with individual and SME clients, and promote the bank’s suite of financial products.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect and generate leads, conduct client meetings, and prepare proposals.
• Support onboarding of loan and savings products and meet sales and portfolio growth targets.
• Maintain accurate records in CRM or internal systems and provide timely activity reporting.
• Collaborate with internal teams to optimise offerings and gather market intelligence.

Required profile

• Strong new business development and customer acquisition abilities.
• Analytical skills and basic finance knowledge to assess client needs and creditworthiness.
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or related field (preferred).
• Experience in banking, financial services or fintech, especially micro‑finance or SME environments (advantage).

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Familiarity with CRM tools or digital banking platforms.
