Bioinformatics Expert – AI (Computational Genomics)

About the role

A remote, full-time contractor assignment (40 hours per week, with 4 hours of Pacific Time overlap each day) for a Bioinformatics Expert focused on AI. The role involves designing computational genomics and bioinformatics tasks for AI evaluation, including realistic tasks based on biological sequence and genomics datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Design challenging computational genomics and bioinformatics tasks for AI evaluation.
• Create realistic tasks involving biological sequence and genomics datasets.
• Develop multi-step analyses using Python, command-line tools and bioinformatics libraries.
• Create reference solutions, expected outputs and objectively verifiable ground truths.
• Validate tasks for scientific correctness, reproducibility and appropriate difficulty.

Required profile

• Ph.D., postdoctoral experience or equivalent research experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computational Genetics or a closely related discipline.
• Experience analyzing biological sequence or genomics datasets.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on programming experience in Python.
• Comfortable working in Linux and command-line computational environments.
• Strong understanding of computational genomics and bioinformatics workflows.
