Associate Manager – Quality Control (Pharma)

About the role

The Quality Control Associate Manager oversees all QC activities in the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, ensuring raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise QC laboratory operations, including chemical, microbiological and instrumental analysis.
• Ensure testing of raw materials, packaging materials, in‑process samples and finished goods according to approved specifications.
• Review and approve laboratory results, certificates of analysis and test reports.
• Maintain compliance with GMP, GLP, WHO, NAFDAC and other applicable regulations.
• Oversee calibration, qualification and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Lead investigations of out‑of‑specification, out‑of‑trend and deviation events and ensure proper documentation.
• Develop, review and update SOPs, specifications and test methods.
• Coordinate stability studies and manage laboratory inventory of reagents and consumables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field (master’s degree is an advantage).
• 10–15 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including 3–5 years in a managerial QC role.

Required skills

• Proficiency with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC and UV Spectrophotometer.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, GLP and regulatory requirements (NAFDAC, WHO).
• Ability to lead investigations, manage SOPs and ensure data integrity.
