Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform and interpret a variety of laboratory tests to support diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients across critical care and surgical specialties at Genesis Specialist Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens from various clinical departments.
• Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
• Validate test results according to established protocols.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Implement quality control and proficiency testing procedures.
• Adhere to safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
• Document all activities accurately in the laboratory information system.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to provide timely results.
• Assist in training junior laboratory personnel as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, with required professional certification or licensure.
• Strong foundation in medical technology and laboratory principles.
• Ability to work accurately under time constraints with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Ikeja and participate in shift or weekend schedules for continuous coverage.
