Area Sales Manager - West Africa

About the role

Sulzer, a leading engineering company, is looking for an experienced, results-driven Sales Manager to drive sales growth, build customer relationships and deliver on financial and market objectives across West Africa and other territories under West African responsibility. The role is based in Port Harcourt.

Key responsibilities

• Drive order intake, sales and profitability across assigned territories
• Develop and execute local sales and business development strategies
• Identify market opportunities and support profitable growth
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers, OEMs, EPCs and end-users
• Lead tendering and proposal activities with the sales support team, and take part in contract negotiations, clarifications and project kick-offs
• Monitor market trends, competitors and customer investment plans
• Oversee project execution from tender through to financial closure
• Support budgeting, forecasting and business reporting, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
• Minimum 10 years' sales experience in the pump industry or a related industrial sector
• Strong knowledge of pumps, agitation and compression technologies
• Proven ability to develop and implement business growth strategies
• Fluent in English; willingness to travel frequently within West Africa and occasionally in the wider region
• Advantageous: experience with SAP or other ERP systems and additional languages

• CRM systems, preferably Salesforce
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong commercial acumen and customer relationship management
