Accounts Officer – Finance Role in Education NGO

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accounts Officer to join our mission‑driven NGO operating in the education and community development sector. The role involves managing day‑to‑day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting budgeting and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records for all income and expenditure.
• Process payments, reimbursements and vendor invoices following approved procedures.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and cash‑flow summaries.
• Reconcile bank statements, petty‑cash accounts and other financial records regularly.
• Monitor organisational expenses and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing for audit and compliance purposes.
• Support the preparation of financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
• Assist with statutory remittances, including taxes and regulatory obligations.
• Liaise with vendors, service providers and financial institutions on payment matters.
• Help coordinate annual audit processes by organising required documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in accounting, finance or administrative roles.
• Understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent) or progress towards certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Competence with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with accounting software (preferred).
