Accountant – Project Finance & Donor Management

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to manage financial operations for our NGO projects in Abuja. The role combines core accounting duties with project finance oversight and donor reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies and audit requirements.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cost control for donor‑funded projects.
• Monitor project budgets, track expenditures and provide financial insights for decision‑making.
• Liaise with donors, partners and funding organisations, preparing required reports and documentation.
• Support proposal development with financial data and budgeting.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
• Travel to field sites for on‑site financial assessments and support operational teams.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent).
• 3–5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in NGOs or development organisations.
• Proven experience in project finance, budgeting and donor‑funded project management.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance and audit processes.
