Accountant - Hotel & Catering

About the role

A hotel and hospitality employer in Abuja is looking for an Accountant to handle financial accounting, guest payments, budgeting, procurement, inventory and catering cost control, payroll and tax compliance. The role covers both general accounting and day-to-day guest payment reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain financial transactions in QuickBooks under IFRS, manage the general ledger, payables, receivables and bank reconciliations, and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Verify and collect guest payments through bank transfer, POS and cash, issue receipts, reconcile bookings, invoices and PMS records, and keep the daily booking and payment reconciliation register.
• Prepare weekly purchasing plans, expenditure budgets and cash requirements; review expenditure requests and manage petty cash, staff advances and expense retirements.
• Review purchase requisitions, supplier quotations and invoices, conduct supplier price comparisons, and verify goods received before payment.
• Monitor inventory across housekeeping, amenities, catering and cleaning supplies, run periodic stock counts and reconcile inventory records.
• Maintain catering revenue, purchases and expenses, prepare recipe costing, cost-per-plate and menu profitability reports, and recommend menu pricing changes.
• Monitor utilities such as electricity, diesel, water and gas, and support annual budgeting, forecasting and periodic performance reviews.
• Process monthly payroll, reconcile payroll expenses and support PAYE, pension and other statutory obligations.
• Support VAT, WHT, CIT and PAYE filings, liaise with tax advisers and auditors, and implement internal controls and asset registers.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
