VAWG Social Worker

About the role

The VAWG Social Worker will plan and deliver psycho‑social support (PSS) activities, raise awareness on violence against women and girls (VAWG), and supervise outreach volunteers. The role works closely with International Medical Corps (IMC) programmes, health centres and community safe spaces to ensure safe identification and referral of survivors.

Key responsibilities

• Promote IMC’s integrated VAWG approach to institutions, primary health‑care centres and individuals.
• Plan and conduct PSS sessions for beneficiaries at Women and Girls Safe Spaces, health centres and community sites.
• Identify and organise awareness‑raising opportunities, focus‑group discussions and safety audits.
• Engage men and boys in the VAWG programme and support equal treatment regardless of sex.
• Maintain service mapping of providers and ensure safe referral of survivors to VAWG case managers.
• Monitor, support, and follow‑up outreach volunteers in the field.
• Prepare and submit monthly quantitative and qualitative reports, incident reports and meeting minutes.
• Attend trainings and meetings as coordinated with the VAWG Programme Officer or Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in social work, preferably within VAWG or mental‑health and psychosocial support programmes.
• Strong empathy, respect for the communities served and commitment to advancing women’s rights.
• Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills for group discussions.
• Ability to work with community members throughout a programme cycle and understand programme accountability principles.
