About the role
The Team Lead, Card Settlement will supervise settlement operations and support the Unit Head in delivering high‑quality service to partners. This role ensures accurate, timely processing of card transactions and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure timely settlement of Visa, Verve, Afrigo, Amex and Mastercard transactions and reconcile daily reports against association data.
- Maintain accurate GL entries, clear suspense accounts daily, and guarantee that merchant transactions are posted to the correct accounts.
- Oversee charge‑back processing, credit‑card settlement files, and daily DTS reconciliation to minimise exposure.
- Champion automation of settlement processes, analyse data for trends, and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide regular training and guidance to settlement officers and foster strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Required profile
- First degree with at least Second‑Class honors; a relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum six years of experience in card settlement or financial services operations.
- Professional certification or recognised membership is a plus.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of card settlement principles and procedures for major schemes.
- Strong ability to interpret and analyse settlement data accurately.
- Proficiency in applying accounting principles to settlement transactions.
