Sorting Hub Team Lead – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Sorting Hub Team Lead will supervise and guide a team of sorting hub operators at Jumia, ensuring efficient handling of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role focuses on meeting same‑day shipping targets, maintaining accurate tracking, and driving overall hub productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coach sorting hub operators and senior operators, assigning daily tasks and prioritising workload.
• Ensure timely scanning of shipments at every leg, updating systems for accurate movement tracking.
• Drive same‑day shipping targets for Jumia Express, adhering to cut‑off times.
• Coordinate pickup cut‑off times with 3PL and fleet partners, managing exceptions for delayed or mismatched shipments.
• Train, mentor and performance‑manage staff, enforcing SOPs and safety protocols.
• Monitor sorting equipment, identify maintenance needs and coordinate repairs.
• Conduct quality checks on sorted items to meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Resolve escalated operational issues and vendor or customer inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records of shipment volumes, processing times and inventory levels.
• Collaborate with Logistics, Warehouse, Network and Customer Service teams for smooth handovers.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to optimise processes and reduce errors.
• Prepare performance reviews and reporting for the hub team.
