Compliance Officer (Shipping & Logistics)

About the role

Medessy Enterprises Limited is seeking a diligent Compliance Officer to oversee regulatory adherence across its shipping and logistics operations in Marina, Anambra. You will act as the primary guardian of the company’s compliance framework, ensuring that all activities meet legal and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily operations to verify compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Develop, review, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, guidelines, and control measures.
• Conduct regular internal compliance checks and audits across departments, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.
• Track regulatory changes, communicate updates to management, and ensure timely implementation.
• Maintain accurate records of licenses, permits, certificates, and other regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes, preparing required documentation.
• Identify, assess, and report compliance risks, proposing mitigation strategies.
• Support investigations of suspected policy violations, fraud, or unethical conduct.
• Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management, highlighting status, incidents, and recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in compliance, risk management, or related fields within shipping, logistics, or transport sectors.
• Strong understanding of Nigerian regulatory requirements affecting logistics and fleet operations.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to communicate compliance requirements clearly to staff at all levels.
• Proven track record of conducting audits and managing corrective action plans.
