Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Nomba is a leading fintech platform in Nigeria, processing over $1 billion in payments each month. We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to help build and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure production systems using automation and Infrastructure as Code.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application architecture for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions.
• Respond to incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and handle critical incidents.
• Continuously improve system performance through tuning, capacity planning, and load testing.
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Automate routine operational tasks using scripting or programming languages.
• Document operational procedures and runbooks with cross‑functional teams.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements for seamless deployments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role managing large‑scale production systems.
• Solid experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and command‑line utilities.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Understanding of networking protocols, load balancing, and firewalls.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with focus on root‑cause analysis.
