Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Moniepoint is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability and scalability of its fast‑growing financial services platform. You will work on a highly distributed system, combining deep knowledge of distributed architectures with strong coding abilities to define SLOs, lead incident response and build self‑healing automation.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in on‑call rotations and act as Incident Commander for major incidents, coordinating cross‑functional teams and managing war rooms.
• Instrument code to expose high‑cardinality metrics and distributed traces, and collaborate with product owners to define and defend Service Level Objectives and error budgets.
• Develop production‑ready tooling, automation platforms and self‑healing mechanisms in Java, Go, Python or Rust.
• Partner with product engineering during design phases to embed reliability, scalability and observability patterns such as circuit breakers, rate limiting and fallback strategies.
• Analyze performance and traffic trends, model capacity needs, and conduct load‑testing and chaos‑engineering experiments.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or Backend Engineering.
• Proven ability to write clean, performant and well‑tested code in Java, Go, Python or Rust.
• Deep understanding of microservices, event‑driven architectures and distributed systems design.
• Extensive experience operating production workloads on Google Cloud Platform, AWS or Azure, preferably with Kubernetes.
