About the role

The Sales Director – Business Banking will lead Fairmoney’s merchant and SME lending operations across the state, driving loan origination, portfolio growth and revenue while ensuring credit quality. This hybrid, full‑time role combines strategic planning with hands‑on team leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and deliver state‑wide merchant and SME lending targets, including loan volume, value, yield and portfolio growth.
  • Define and execute regional lending strategies aligned with company growth and risk objectives.
  • Drive large‑scale loan origination across priority sectors such as health & beauty, electronics, auto parts, pharmacies, FMCG, hospitality and retail.
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio performance, ensuring strong repayment behavior, controlled delinquency and sustainable growth.
  • Lead and manage Relationship Managers, Senior Relationship Managers and field sales teams, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Coach team leads to improve loan sales effectiveness, portfolio discipline and merchant engagement.
  • Own strategic, high‑value merchant relationships, using senior‑level engagement to unlock large‑ticket lending opportunities.
  • Ensure strong adoption of offline payment solutions (POS) and leverage transaction data for credit decisions and early risk detection.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines and risk frameworks, working closely with Credit, Risk and Collections teams.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends and sector risks, providing insights to senior leadership.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Proven experience in sales leadership within banking or financial services, preferably in SME/merchant lending.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding lending, revenue and transaction KPIs.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
