Loan Recovery Officer

About the role

The Loan Recovery Officer monitors loan repayment schedules, identifies delinquent accounts, and recovers outstanding debts through phone calls, emails, letters, and field visits. The role involves negotiating repayment plans, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor loan repayment schedules and flag delinquent accounts.
• Contact borrowers via multiple channels to recover outstanding debts.
• Negotiate repayment plans and restructuring arrangements.
• Prepare and issue demand notices and recovery letters.
• Coordinate with legal officers and external agents on difficult cases.
• Track and report recovery performance, arrears status, and collection trends.
• Recommend write‑offs, repossession, or legal action when recovery prospects are limited.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law, finance or accounting (2:1) from a recognized university.
• 5‑10 years of experience in loan recovery, credit risk, and management.
• Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and ability to work under pressure.
