Internal Control Officer – Hospital Finance & Audit

About the role

The Internal Control Officer will support Cedarcrest Hospitals in safeguarding assets, ensuring compliance, and enhancing operational efficiency across clinical and administrative functions. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit/Finance Manager, the role combines audit, risk management, and data integrity responsibilities within a fast‑growing private multispecialty network.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine and surprise internal audits of clinical, financial, pharmacy, procurement, HR, and billing processes.
• Verify adherence to hospital SOPs, MDCN guidelines, NHIS/HMO rules, and other regulatory requirements.
• Identify control gaps, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation of audit findings.
• Reconcile revenue streams (OPD, admissions, lab, radiology, pharmacy) against system records.
• Validate stock management of drugs, consumables, and equipment, checking for pilferage or expiry.
• Review payroll, vendor payments, and expense claims for validity and proper authorization.
• Prepare audit reports, track issue closure, and train staff on compliance and fraud prevention.
• Support external audits by regulators, HMOs, and statutory bodies.
• Test EMR/HMIS and billing systems for control weaknesses and ensure data confidentiality.

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 4‑7 years of experience in internal audit, internal control, or compliance, preferably in healthcare.
• Professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIA or CISA are an advantage.
