Head Chef - Four Points by Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene

About the role

The Head Chef is accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations, personally performing culinary tasks while leading the staff and managing all food-related functions. The role works to improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget, supervises all kitchen areas and guides and develops staff. It is a full-time management position based at Raffia City Plaza, Ikot Ekpene, Nigeria, and is open to local candidates only.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook foods regularly and for special guests or events, and create new menus and recipes
• Ensure food handling, sanitation and brand safety standards are met, and comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Supervise kitchen shifts, manage day-to-day operations and estimate daily production needs
• Maintain purchasing, receiving, food storage and portion control standards, and keep equipment running
• Develop environmentally friendly processes for food preparation, energy use and waste management
• Lead and develop the culinary team, including scheduling, performance appraisals, mentoring and hiring support
• Handle guest complaints and coach staff on guest expectations
• Manage budgets, track payroll and staffing levels, and order and inventory uniforms

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year accredited degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major
• 4 years of culinary, food and beverage or related experience, or 2 years after such a degree
