Drill Rig Mechanic

About the role

The Drill Rig Mechanic will supervise and coordinate daily drilling and mining operations in a limestone quarry, ensuring safe, efficient and continuous production. The role involves overseeing bench leveling, developing new quarry areas with Epiroc drill rigs, and monitoring operators to maintain high safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and support safety initiatives across the plant.
• Organise and execute drilling operations in a green, safe and injury‑free environment.
• Provide clear instructions to technicians and act as the communication link between technicians and the team leader.
• Assign daily tasks to drilling technicians and report shutdown reasons and production metrics.
• Maintain drilling logs that affect explosives charging and conduct daily equipment inspections.
• Coordinate with the workshop team on equipment breakdowns and follow‑up on repairs.
• Communicate blast plans and readiness with the operations team and manage quarry evacuations during blasting.

Required profile

• Technical education (OND/Technical) in Mechanical engineering or a related field.
• At least 4‑5 years of post‑qualification experience in the cement or similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of RCA methodology and good written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
