Accountant – Tax & Financial Reporting Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage the full spectrum of financial and tax responsibilities for our organization. The role involves preparing statutory filings, financial statements, and supporting budgeting and audit processes while ensuring compliance with Nigerian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of account and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with applicable standards.
• Manage statutory obligations such as PAYE, VAT, WHT, CIT, pension, NSITF, ITF and ensure timely remittance and documentation.
• Prepare tax computations, reconciliations, tax clearance documents and support tax planning initiatives.
• Develop, monitor and analyse budgets, cash flow forecasts and working capital management.
• Perform bank, vendor, customer and general ledger reconciliations to guarantee data integrity.
• Coordinate annual audits, liaise with external auditors, tax consultants and regulatory authorities.
• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies and filing systems for all financial records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with ICAN or ACCA certification (mandatory).
• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in tax consulting, audit or professional services.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to prepare financial statements and support external audits.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting/ERP software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo or Microsoft Dynamics.
