Safety & Security Officer

About the role

The Safety & Security Officer will monitor and manage safety and security risks across all operational locations of NI-ABAE. The role involves conducting security assessments, ensuring compliance with procedures, reporting incidents, and coordinating with stakeholders to enable safe program implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate regularly with Field Managers and Field Officers, providing security updates for high‑ and medium‑risk clinics.
• Contact stakeholders and community gatekeepers for security information and share heightened‑risk reports with the Security Manager.
• Review low‑risk security incidents, gather details from staff, and recommend actions to Field Managers.
• Draft security reports, assign follow‑up actions, and confirm their completion.
• Assist the Security Manager in conducting security assessments of clinics, LGAs, hotels, training venues, and car‑hire vendors through in‑person visits.
• Shadow Field Officers on clinic visits to verify security conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar NGO or humanitarian security role.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational and detail‑oriented abilities.
• Adaptable and willing to conduct frequent field visits, including on short notice.
• Proficiency in English and Hausa, with strong report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
• Willingness to reside in Kebbi State, Nigeria.
