Project Civil Engineer

About the role

The Project Civil Engineer will lead the civil and structural engineering aspects of large‑scale industrial projects across Nigeria. This senior position requires oversight of design validation, on‑site execution, and integration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review, validate and optimise civil and structural designs against international standards and local regulations.
• Lead on‑site execution of earthworks, machine foundations, structural steel erections and specialised floor coatings.
• Manage civil contractors, enforce drawing compliance, monitor milestones and conduct quality checks.
• Resolve real‑time structural anomalies, soil conditions and layout challenges without delaying the master schedule.
• Implement rigorous QA/QC frameworks and site safety protocols.
• Develop detailed civil execution plans, schedules, resource allocation and monitor project milestones.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, production and utility teams for seamless infrastructure integration.
• Track expenditures, validate contractor claims and control construction costs.
• Identify and mitigate construction risks, environmental challenges and regulatory compliance issues.

Required profile

• Minimum HND in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• COREN registration or corporate membership in NSE.
• At least 8 years of experience managing civil works on large‑scale industrial or greenfield factory projects.
• Strong structural engineering eye, proficient in interpreting complex blueprints.
• Demonstrated leadership of site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro.
• Experience using SAP Project Systems (PS) module.
• Ability to prepare and review technical submittals, shop drawings and method statements.
• Knowledge of building codes, HSE standards and environmental regulations.
