Fiber Optics Engineer

About the role

Cobranet Limited is seeking a skilled Fiber Optics Engineer to join its Lagos team. You will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic infrastructure that supports the company’s high‑availability internet services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform customer premise installations, including racking, cabling, bonding and grounding.
• Coordinate fiber activities with other departments and the OSP Construction Manager.
• Execute ring cuts on live fiber without disrupting existing services.
• Conduct fiber tests using OTDRs, light sources and meters.
• Terminate, splice, bond/ground and test fiber optic equipment to division standards.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment location, splicing and termination for the fiber database.
• Assist construction and engineering teams in commissioning the fiber network.
• Install fiber optic equipment, patch panels and demarcation enclosures.
• Monitor fiber performance, diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• B.Sc or HND in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of technical experience in telecommunications or network operations.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and team orientation.
• Age over 25 years.

Required skills

• Fiber optic splicing techniques.
• OTDR operation and interpretation.
• Use of light sources, power meters, traffic identifiers and digital multimeters.
• Fiber termination, bonding and grounding.
• Cisco switching and routing configuration and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with cleavers, strippers, buffer‑tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders and bucket trucks.
