Accounts Clerk – EU Delegation in Abuja

About the role

The EU Delegation in Abuja seeks an Accounts Clerk (Local Agent, Group III) on an indefinite contract to support the Administration Section. The role reports to the Head of Administration and involves a variety of accounting, budgeting and reporting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the Delegation’s bank, monitor accounts and encode invoices in the accounting system.
• Execute accounting transactions, follow‑up outstanding items and ensure compliance with financial, budgetary and contractual rules.
• Assist in the preparation of reports to Headquarters, yearly budget finalisation and procurement procedures.
• Encode travel invoices in MIPS+, handle LEF/BAF entries in the SUMMA workflow and respond to Ex‑Post Control requests.
• Provide backup to the Accountant and support suppliers/contractors on payments and banking information.

Required profile

• Secondary education degree and at least three years of experience as an accountant, financial auditor or budget officer.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English (C2 level) and full computer literacy in MS Office.
• Right to reside and work in Nigeria.
• Additional points for a post‑secondary degree in accounting/finance, Chartered Accountant certification, experience in a diplomatic mission or EU environment, and knowledge of French or another European language.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Delegation’s accounting software and MIPS+ for travel invoice encoding.
• Experience using the SUMMA Business Partners workflow.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
