About the role
The Quality of Care (QoC) Mentor will provide routine on‑site mentoring, coaching and technical assistance to health facilities to strengthen the quality of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAEH) services.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular on‑site mentoring visits (approximately 20 days per month) to support health‑care workers in delivering RMNCAEH and nutrition services.
- Review facility performance data and guide teams in using registers, DHIS2 reports and other sources to identify quality gaps and drive evidence‑based decisions.
- Facilitate quality improvement processes, including root‑cause analysis using Five Whys, Fishbone diagrams and process mapping, and support the application of Plan‑Do‑Study‑Act cycles.
- Support the establishment or revitalisation of Quality Improvement Teams, organise monthly meetings and monitor action‑plan implementation.
- Provide technical assistance to strengthen two‑way referral systems and infection prevention and control practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, midwifery, medicine, public health, community health or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Valid professional registration and practising licence where applicable.
- Minimum five years of experience in RMNCAEH, primary health care or health‑system quality improvement, including at least three years of facility‑level mentoring or supportive supervision.
- Demonstrated experience with quality of care assessments, quality improvement teams and the use of routine health information for decision‑making.
Required skills
- Data analysis using health registers, DHIS2 reports and other routine service delivery data.
- Application of quality improvement methodologies such as PDSA cycles, Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa analysis and process mapping.
- Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) coaching and waste management practices.
- Referral system strengthening and documentation.
