Project Manager – Hydro Engineering

About the role

Our client, a forward‑thinking renewable‑energy provider based in Victoria Island, Lagos, is looking for a technically strong Project Manager with a core background in hydro engineering. You will own the end‑to‑end delivery of hydro‑construction, rehabilitation and renovation projects across Lagos State.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, design evaluation and execution of hydro‑power construction and facility renovation projects, creating roadmaps, WBS and budgets.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new sites or renovation targets.
• Oversee daily site engineering, ensuring civil structures, turbines, penstocks and water‑flow dynamics meet specifications.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, blueprints and material specifications.
• Manage civil contractors, electrical engineers, equipment operators and site labour, acting as liaison between executive team and on‑site teams.
• Coordinate with local communities, regulatory agencies and environmental bodies to secure permits and maintain stakeholder buy‑in.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian environmental regulations, Duke Energy sustainability mandates and global HSE standards, including EIAs.
• Monitor project financials, control procurement and provide data‑driven progress reports to leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydro Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field.
• 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience in hydro construction, dam renovation or large‑scale water infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Lead Engineer in renewable energy or heavy construction.
• Professional engineering registration (e.g., COREN) – preferred.
• Project Management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 – highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Lagos State topography, water bodies and Nigerian regulatory frameworks.

What we offer

• Competitive salary starting from NGN400,000 gross per month, negotiable based on experience.
