Naval Architect

About the role

The Naval Architect will lead the design, development and optimisation of marine vessels and offshore structures, ensuring they meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design hull forms, general arrangements and structural layouts for ships and offshore platforms.
• Perform hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analyses, including stability, resistance, propulsion and seakeeping.
• Conduct finite element structural analysis to verify strength under operational loads.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, weight estimates and technical documentation for construction and classification approval.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, electrical and production systems.
• Support material selection, corrosion protection and fatigue analysis for marine environments.
• Oversee model testing, simulations and sea trials to validate vessel performance.
• Provide on‑site engineering support during construction, inspection and commissioning.

Required profile

• BEng/BTech in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Ocean Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in vessel design, structural analysis or shipbuilding projects.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime standards (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and classification societies.
• Proven ability to work in fast‑paced, cross‑functional engineering environments.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, ANSYS.
• Finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
• Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations, ship stability analysis.
• Understanding of classification society requirements (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
