Legal Officer – Manufacturing & Regulatory Law

About the role

The Legal Officer will provide strategic legal advice to support Sigma Coatings' manufacturing operations, supply chain, and commercial activities. This role ensures compliance with Nigerian regulations and protects the company’s interests in all legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on legal issues affecting manufacturing, supply chain, distribution and sales.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC, SON, NESREA, FIRS, CAC and other agencies.
• Handle litigation, disputes and represent the company in negotiations with vendors, customers and authorities.
• Support factory operations on health & safety, labour law, and land/lease matters.
• Provide legal input in management and operations meetings.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts including supply agreements, distributor agreements, service contracts, equipment leases and NDAs.
• Prepare board resolutions, minutes and statutory filings with the CAC.
• Maintain the legal document register and contract repository.
• Review and update policy documents.
• Ensure compliance with labour law, the Factory Act, environmental regulations, product regulatory requirements and tax laws.
• Monitor timely renewal of licences, permits and certifications for the plant and products.
• Develop and implement company policies, code of conduct and compliance manuals.
• Coordinate compliance training for staff and heads of departments.
• Conduct periodic compliance audits and prepare reports for management.

Required profile

• LL.B degree.
• 5‑7 years post‑call legal experience, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG or corporate environments.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian corporate law, labour law, environmental law and manufacturing regulatory requirements.
