ICLA Technical Assistant – Yola, Nigeria

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an enthusiastic ICLA Technical Assistant to support legal and civil identity activities for displaced populations in Yola, Adamawa State. The role contributes to the implementation of housing, land, property rights and collaborative dispute resolution programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of civil and legal identity, HLP rights and CDR activities, including information and counselling sessions.
• Prepare status reports, document project achievements and compile periodic reports for supervisors.
• Support procurement and distribution of materials in line with NRC procedures.
• Engage communities and leaders to ensure accountability and promote the rights of IDPs and returnees.
• Contribute to the development of training and information‑dissemination materials adapted to local contexts.
• Update and maintain the monitoring & evaluation system, integrating gender, protection and advocacy priorities.

Required profile

• University degree in Law or Social Sciences from a recognized Nigerian university.
• Thorough knowledge of Nigerian law as applied in displacement contexts.
• Work experience in legal settings (courts, attorneys, legal aid) and humanitarian protection, preferably with displaced populations.
• Experience working in complex and volatile environments.
• Demonstrated results related to legal assistance and community engagement.
