ICLA Technical Assistant – Mubi, Nigeria

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an enthusiastic ICLA Technical Assistant to support legal and civil identity activities for displaced populations in Mubi, Adamawa State. The role contributes to NRC’s mission of bridging humanitarian aid and development by ensuring equitable access to basic services and protecting the rights of IDPs and returnees.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of civil and legal identity, housing, land, property (HLP) rights, and collaborative dispute resolution (CDR) activities.
• Conduct information and counselling sessions, provide legal assistance, and deliver capacity‑building trainings.
• Prepare and develop status reports, periodic project reports, and documentation of achievements.
• Support procurement and distribution processes to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Engage communities and local leaders to promote accountability and facilitate beneficiary participation.
• Contribute to the development of training and information‑dissemination materials adapted to the local context.
• Update and maintain the monitoring & evaluation (M&E) system, integrating gender, protection and advocacy priorities.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or project managers.

Required profile

• University degree in Law or Social Sciences from a recognized Nigerian university.
• Thorough knowledge of Nigerian law as applied to displacement contexts.
• Work experience in legal settings (courts, attorney offices, legal‑aid agencies) and humanitarian protection.
• Preferably experience working with displaced populations in complex or volatile environments.
• Demonstrated results related to the responsibilities listed.
